The events of October 7 marked the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. The two-year war that followed left thousands of families and communities grieving profound loss. KKL-JNF is ensuring their memory will never be forgotten. At the site of the Nova Music Festival massacre, KKL-JNF built the Nova Memorial Site, honoring those who were murdered, while the “Iron Swords Forest” stands as a living tribute – each tree planted in memory of a life lost since October 7. KKL-JNF is partnering with United Hatzalah, Israel’s largest all-volunteer emergency medical organization. With 6,500 trained medics, they provide lifesaving care 24/7—free of charge. On October 7 alone, more than 1,500 volunteers rushed to southern Israel, treating over 3,800 wounded and carrying out 800 emergency evacuations within days. Now, KKL-JNF is helping build a fortified, missile-proof emergency regional command center in Sderot. This 1,200-square-meter facility will house Israel’s second-largest dispatch center, serve as a logistics hub and training headquarters, and ensure rapid emergency response for tens of thousands of residents across Sderot and the Gaza Envelope.

October 7 and the war that followed have taken a heavy toll on families in the Western Negev and Galilee. Thousands were forced to evacuate their homes, and more than 30 communities near the Gaza border were devastated, leaving many unable to return. KKL-JNF has stood with these communities from day one. Now, we are building dozens of community parks and children’s playgrounds – safe spaces where families can begin to heal, and children can once again play, feel secure, and regain a sense of normalcy.

More than two years of war have caused widespread damage to Israel’s forests. Missile and rocket attacks sparked devastating wildfires, destroying over 10,000 acres of forest that took decades to grow; natural habitats, wildlife, and entire ecosystems were lost. KKL-JNF is leading efforts to restore, rehabilitate, and replant forests across the Galilee and Western Negev – bringing life back to the land.
